FAQ

RSI LABORATORIES is a C.A.P. Certified Lab. What does C.A.P. Certification mean?

The C.A.P. Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized program based on the C.A.P. Laboratory Accreditation Standards. Designed to go well beyond regulatory compliance, the program provides a solid foundation for quality practices and helps laboratories achieve the highest standards of excellence to positively impact patient care.

The Laboratory Accreditation Program meets the needs of a variety of laboratory settings, from complex university medical centers to physician office laboratories. The C.A.P. Laboratory Accreditation Program is the only program covering a complete array of disciplines and testing procedures available in today’s laboratory. The program also accommodates all testing sites, ensuring consistent levels of service throughout institutions and health care systems.

What is GC/MS Confirmation Testing?

GC/MS is an abbreviation for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. It is the most precise procedure for the detection of drugs of abuse in urine. GC/MS is considered to be the most definitive method for confirming the presence of a drug in urine and is admissable in the court of law.

How do I know if I need a GC/MS confirmation test?

If the donor of the sample tests positive for a drug and admits to using the drug, no further testing is generally required. A confirmation test is generally required for the court of law.

What is an LC/MS confirmation test?

LC/MS is an abbreviation for liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry. An LC/MS confirmation test is in essence, the same as a GC/MS confirmation test. However, because some compounds, such as EtG Testing for alcohol, breakdown differently than others, two different tests are used for “gold standard” confirmatory testing.

An LC/MS confirmatory test is used for EtG Testing, K2 and Bath Salts.

Will RSI LABORATORIES provide court testimony?

As a customer of RSI LABORATORIES, we provide complimentary telephone, video and/or ZOOM testimony for court should it be necessary. In-person testimony is also provided within a limited area and for an extra fee. Testimony is offered only if a sample has been processed using confirmatory testing through RSI LABORATORIES.

How do I know if a sample has been tampered within transit?

Upon arrival at the laboratory, each sample is examined to ensure security seals are intact. In addition, the bio-hazard bags are intact and all chain of custody paperwork matches each sample. Following strict C.A.P. Certification rules, procedures are followed to ensure legal defensibility of the chain of custody process.
